This is how it all started…
Being in the middle. I was raised understanding how to be a helper of the house until I came across a rude awakening that not everyone else has had a similar upbringing as I did. A tragic lesson where silently doing what I am told wouldn’t get me anywhere good and that crying to be heard only made me more of a joke in my relationships. There was more force to be recon with and more action to be taken. If you’re a woman who aims for a traditions family dynamic yet has found herself being challenged by the status quo, then we all can relate on how being high value and conservative is not rewarded as it once was. It has become a battle to preserve yourself and still be acknowledged for what it is you contribute to work, family, and self.
In my first relationship I come to the realization that a child will NOT show a man-child the meaning of life and that I would have to be willing to be a father before a mother. My second relationship showed me that a man’s attention is not worth fighting for and that I would have to be willing to stand up not just for my child but myself. My third relationship reminded me that I didn’t have to do things alone anymore and that I was going to have to do something different if I wanted to succeed as a partnership.
I knew what a strong man was before I figured out how to be a woman.
I knew how to be a father before a mother.
I knew how to work before I knew how to love.
I knew how to fight for my independence before I learned how to receive help.
I learned how to use my words and own my decisions before I called myself a middle class woman.
